Young people and local councillors were among the Milford Haven people visited by Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon on Friday. His Your Voice day of activity also saw him host a three-hour surgery meeting individuals and small groups privately. Mr. Salmon said: "The topics local people wanted to discuss ranged from the future of publicly-funded CCTV to the possible closure of some youth centres. "The matter of the Mosquito anti-loitering device near Milford Haven Library was raised as were issues such as neighbourhood disputes. "I reassured councillors that Milford will continue to have a police base and I was encouraged by the efforts being made by youth workers to help local young people." Those who met Mr. Salmon included members of the Milford Haven School Council and members of Milford Haven Town Council. He talked with staff and friends of charity Milford Youth Matters in Buddies, the Milford Haven Youth Centre cafe. He also visited Pembroke Dock to see the work of VideoMajic TV. The Commissioner oversees an annual Dyfed-Powys policing fund of around £100m. As the elected voice of the public, he makes the police answerable to the communities they serve. He works in partnership across a range of agencies to ensure a unified approach to preventing and reducing crime. In his first 22 months in office, his achievements included more police officers, improved access to the police and the issue of community grants. Mr. Salmon is asking where the public would like to see him next year. To let him know, phone 01267 226440, email [email protected]">[email protected] or tweet @DPOPCC with #YourVoice2015.
