A teenager from Milford Haven was so drunk that she couldn’t remember assaulting a female on a night out, a court heard this week.
Nineteen-year-old, Codie Anne Hamilton of Mount Estate appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to plead guilty to an offence of common assault which occurred on February 15.
The incident occurred when Miss Hamilton was on a night out with friends in Milford Haven.
Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that around 11.30 pm the victim was getting in a taxi to go home, and it was here that Miss Hamilton pulled her from behind and slammed her to the ground, before repeatedly kicking the victim and giving her a black eye.
Magistrates heard that the defendant was so drunk that she couldn’t remember assaulting the victim until the police arrested her a few days later.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that there had been a previous incident between the victim and the defendant’s brother which may have led to the assault.
He also noted that his client accepted that she had kicked the victim.
Before sentencing, Magistrates heard from probation officer Julie Norman who said that the defendant was ‘remorseful’ and had spent most of her life in care.
She also mentioned that Miss Hamilton had alcohol problems.
Magistrates handed the defendant a 12 month community order, with 200 hours of unpaid work and a 15 day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.
She was also ordered to pay £125 in compensation to the victim, £85 in prosecution costs and the same amount as a victim surcharge.
