A Saundersfoot man who had been out socialising has been handed a driving ban after being caught behind the wheel over the alcohol limit.
Thirty-eight-year-old Ben Hart, of Middlehill, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday (March 3), to plead guilty to a charge of driving a BMW after exceeding the prescribed limit.
Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that police offices on duty on February 16 at Kilgetty roundabout stopped Mr. Hart in his vehicle at around 10 pm by Pentlepoir.
“Officers could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath and a roadside test proved positive,” he said.
The defendant gave a reading of 84 microgrammes of alcohol in a 100 millilitres of breath at the police station.
Defence solicitor John Allchurch told the court that Mr. Hart had been out socialising that night with friends in Haverfordwest and was returning home.
Magistrates handed the defendant a 20 month driving disqualification and fined him £120.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.
