A Pembroke man has been fined in court after admitting a charge of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

Forty-three-year-old Brian Raymond Watkins Llewellyn, of Coldwell Terrace, appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to plead guilty to the offence.

Prosecutor Abul Hussain told the court that officers attended Rock Park in Pembroke on March 3, after reports of a disturbance.

“When they arrived, officers spoke to Mr. Llewellyn, who was agitated and angry, with a swollen eye. They said that they wanted to speak to him about the injury that he’d sustained.

“Initially the defendant engaged with officers, but then started using foul and abusive language towards them,” continued Mr. Hussain, explaining that Mr. Llewellyn had a number of previous convictions and was also in breach of a suspended sentence for drugs offences.

Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that Mr. Llewellyn had been out and had been ‘jumped’ and received a black eye from the incident.

“When spoken to by police, he spoke tidily to one officer, but there was a clash between him and the other officer. Mr. Llewellyn accepts that he swore at one of them.

“He came off worst that night as when he was arrested and put to the floor, he sustained a broken arm, so it proved to be a very costly evening,” added Mr. Kelleher.

Magistrates fined Mr. Llewellyn £40 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
