A Milford man who assaulted a member of a nightclub’s security staff after being thrown out of the premises has been handed a community order.

Twenty-six-year-old Benjamin Liam Alan Hilton of Robert Street pleaded guilty to a charge of assault when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Vaughan Pritchard-Jones told the court that the offence occurred on March 30 when the defendant was out drinking on his own and was ejected from the Astoria nightclub for his behaviour.

After being thrown out Mr. Hilton became agitated taking his shirt off, before a member of the club’s door staff came over to ask him to calm down.

The defendant then punched the doorman giving him a broken nose which started to bleed straight away.

A photo of the injuries suffered by the victim was shown to Magistrates.

Mr. Hilton who the court heard had previous convictions dating back to 2013 for common assault, and was also in court last month for a similar offence, told police officers when they arrived at the scene: “I ain’t going to lie I hit him.”

Defence solicitor, Jonathan Webb said that the two males were know to each other by a historical manner as they were both from Milford Haven.

A community order that Mr. Hilton was already serving for assault was revoked by Magistrates, who issued the defendant with a new 12 month community order, to include 250 hours of unpaid work, along with a 15 day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

He was also ordered to pay £125 in compensation to the victim, £85 in prosecution costs and the same amount as a victim surcharge.
