A Cardiff man has been fined in court after being caught with cannabis in a friend’s car in Monkton.
Twenty-four-year-old Jackson Stephens, of Habershon Street, Splott, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing 0.1 grams of cannabis, when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that police officers became aware of a vehicle in Monkton on April 19 that was pulled up with it’s headlights on and the engine running.
Officers could smell cannabis when they approached the vehicle and Mr. Stephens admitted that it was for his own personal use.
Defence solicitor Craig Davies told the court that his client was a passenger in a friend’s vehicle which was left unattended by the driver. “He was open and honest towards officers,” he explained.
Magistrates fined Mr. Stephens £60 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
