Cannabis was discovered at the home of a Pembroke Dock man when police executed a search warrant at his address a court heard this week.
Thirty-six-year-old Peter Harrison of Dimond Street, pleaded guilty to possessing 0.8 grammes of herbal cannabis when he appeared at Haverfordwest magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that police executed the search warrant at the address on March 3. The court heard how Mr. Harrison lived at the address where he also ran a goods store, and the cannabis was found located on a shelf inside the premises.
In a police interview he told officers that he was unsure of whether it was illegal to have cannabis any longer, but officers told him that it was still illegal to possess the drug.
Magistrates heard how Mr. Harrison had been given a conditional discharge in 2016 for a similar offence.
Defence solicitor Mike Kelleher told the court that Mr. Harrison was a self employed sole trader and had just started to run a shop from his premises.
“It was a very small amount of cannabis,” he added.
Magistrates fined the defendant £80 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
A destruction order for the drugs was also passed.
