The Summer Reading Challenge is in its landing phase now, as the official ending is Friday, September 13.

Everyone who completes the Challenge by then will be entered in a draw to win an extra-special prize. Even if you can’t finish by the 13th, Tenby Library will still give out medals and certificates to everyone who completes the Challenge by Saturday, September 28, so there is still time.

Baby & Toddler Rhyme Time is back from Tuesday, September 10, 10.30 - 11 am. It is on every Tuesday in term time, with stories, songs and fun for pre-school aged children and their adults. There’s no need to book, and it’s free.

Next week is Know Your Numbers Week and there is a display of books related to blood pressure, heart disease and cholesterol in Tenby Library. If you are interested in your blood pressure levels The Stroke Association will be testing in Pembroke Dock Library on Wednesday, September 11, 10 am - 12.30 pm, and The Riverside Library, Haverfordwest, on Thursday, September 12, 10 am - 1 pm. There’s no need to book, just drop in and see a volunteer.

The Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and Grand Book Sale is back on Saturday, September 28. As usual, we will have books that have been deleted from the library stock and will also accept donations of good quality books for sale. Proceeds from the coffee morning go to Macmillan Cancer Support and proceeds from the book sale go to Pembrokeshire Libraries book-buying fund, so you could enjoy yourself with a cake and a book at bargain prices and support two good causes.

Would you like a little help with your laptop, tablet or smartphone? Our Digital Champion Volunteer Roger is running drop-in sessions on Mondaya, September 9 and 16, 10 am - 12 pm, just bring your gadget along and ask your question. There’s no need to book and it’s free. If you have a more in-depth question for him, there are two bookable periods, one at 12 - 12.30 pm and the other at 12.30 - 1 pm. Normally Roger has these sessions every Monday, but he is taking a break at the end of September, and will be back with us mid-October.

New books in this month include novels by Alys Clare, Katie Flynn and Jenny Eclair. The new version of Dumbo is out on DVD and is available for renting from Tenby Library.

Library members with smartphones, tablets (not Kindle) or computer access can also borrow a wide range of e-books and e-audiobooks and read e-magazines completely for free through the libraries page of the council website www.pembrokeshire.gov.uk/using-library-services/247-e-library.

Orange recycling bags and food waste bags are available in the library; just ask at the counter. However, we do not hold any of the recycling boxes; they are at Tenby Leisure Centre and at the De Valence Pavilion.

The parking enforcement officers are still patrolling the library car-park and may issue tickets to those who abuse the parking system. There are warning notices up around the car-park. We have a number of short-stay bays immediately outside the library which can be used for up to 30 minutes (60 minutes with a Blue Badge) without a parking permit. These are clearly marked with 30-minute or 60-minute signs. Parking anywhere else in the car park requires a permit which can be obtained from staff.

For more information and booking, please call Tenby Library on 01437 775151 or 01834 843934 or email [email protected].
