A Pembroke Dock man who stole alcohol on four separate occasions over the course of three days from a local superstore, has been told he is in 'the last chance saloon' by the District Judge.

Twenty-four-year-old Robert Marcus William Britton, of Meyrick Street, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on four theft charges, where between January 9 and 11, he pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of White Rum, along with bottles of Canadian, Bells and Jonny Walker Whiskey, from the Tesco Store in Pembroke Dock.

The prosecution told District Judge Vivian Manning-Davies that the cases were of a typical shoplifting nature, where the defendant had admitted to the allegation of theft straightaway.

Representing Mr. Britton, solicitor Mark Layton said that his client had a longstanding drink problem which was being managed with help from his probation officer and local people in the community, and that hopefully this incident which meant that he had broken the conditions of a community order he was already under, was just a blip that had occurred.

The District Judge said that the probation service were taking a very charitable view towards Mr. Britton, and that he didn't want to set him up to fail and was willing to give him a chance.

Judge Manning-Davies elected to adjourn the case for 28 days and ordered Mr. Britton to comply with the community order and return to court on March 6.
