Small Changes That Will Reap Big Rewards: Rest - We’re all prone to go training when tired, worried that missing one session will affect our chance of achieving. Yet research proves that getting the right amount and quality of sleep or rest, could be more beneficial than stressing about getting that extra workout in.
Sleep helps muscles repair and recover. Rest and relaxation outside of actual sleeping can also help.
It’s important because it takes our body out of fight and flight mode, which is triggered when we stress our body either through exercise, food or mental stress.
Rest allows us to wake up the parasympathetic nervous system, which aids the body’s natural ability to rest, digest and recover, as well as helping us feel calm.
