TENBY Arts Club will welcome Alison Neil for a performance of her one woman play ‘Mrs Baker’s Company’ on Friday, March 20.
Written and performed by Alison Neil and directed by David Collison, the performance starts at 3pm in Church House (St Mary’s).
Mrs Sarah Baker shone brightly as a theatre manager at the beginning of the 1800s. Cheerfully optimistic, she fought to gain respectability.
Starting as a child in her family's troupe at the famous Sadlers Wells pleasure gardens, Sarah never learnt to read, but she could dance on a rope. Her family toured the country, classed as 'rogues and vagabonds' who could be run out of town or imprisoned at the whim of a local magistrate or mayor.
Alison Neil provides another inspiring and riveting tale that reveals Mrs Baker’s precarious world of make-believe and slapstick, providing a touch of magic wherever the wagons stopped and the show began.
The play has received very favourable reviews from audience members as well as critics.
Entry is £10 cash on the door or £8 for Tenby Arts Club members.
