TO start the May meeting of St Issell’s WI, vice-president Anne-Marie Littlewood welcomed the ladies to the Regency Hall, Saundersfoot, and especially Sheila Beynon who was there to demonstrate chair yoga.
Sheila started her talk by retelling the history of yoga and describing the different types. She then had everyone trying out various breathing and stretching exercises - all sitting on their chairs.
By the end of the session, after more breathing exercises, everyone felt relaxed, and Anne Leech thanked Sheila for a most entertaining hour, saying she felt sure that many members would like to join a chair yoga class.
Following refreshments, Jean Roberts was thanked for the flowers for the top table, and birthday wishes went to Joy Nixon, Bee Poole, Mary Williams, Sheila spiller and Val John.
The ladies who had taken part in the rosebowl competition, coming third, had brought along their entry for everyone to see, and they received congratulations and a round of applause.
The members who had gone to the Torch Theatre had much enjoyed the Anything Goes sketch.
There was some discussion about the planter outside the Regency Hall which now needed new plants, and ladies were asked to donate any plants they didn’t need. It was also agreed to spend £30 on compost and plants some of which could be bought from Gerald Rogers at the Regency Hall.
Anne-Marie read through the newsletter, and after some discussion it was agreed that St Issell’s WI would put on the screening of the Annual Meeting together with a two course lunch. It was also hoped to invite members from other local WIs.
Pam was also given authority to use her discretion in the resolution vote. Various county events were noted, Rachel Jones being interested in the ceramic painting. Four ladies were going on the trip to the Hay Book Festival, and notice was given that a coach would be going to the Royal Welsh Show on July 23 at a cost of £23.
This month’s competition winner was Jacqui Cowgill, and the lucky raffle winner was Jane Lee, with Sandra John winning a second prize the flowers kindly donated by Jean.
Anne-Marie wished ladies a safe journey home, looking forward to the June meeting when the speaker will be Mary Sefton.
