A young man from Pembroke Dock who contacted police after being assaulted, was arrested himself after becoming aggressive with officers, Haverfordwest Magistrates Court heard on Tuesday.

Twenty-one-year-old Tace Anthony Michael Davies, of Meyrick Street, pleaded guilty to a charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress, during the incident which occurred in Milford Haven on July 16.

Prosecutor David Weale told District Judge Vivian Manning-Davies that police were dispatched to an address on John Lewis Street, where they could hear a disturbance, and found the defendant who was said to be extremely wound up and clenching his fists.

When he was told that he needed to attend the police station to be interviewed about the assault, he became extremely aggressive and abusive and was arrested by officers.

His solicitor James Subbiani said that his client was the innocent party, but when police officers arrived on the scene to try to get to the bottom of why they had been called to the property, it caused a degree of friction and Mr. Davies used some choice words.

"You were the injured party, but when the police tried to help, you became offensive towards them, and while I can understand that as a young man you were so aggrieved and acted the way you did, I can't condone it," said Judge Manning-Davies, who gave the defendant a six-month conditional discharge.
