A Tenby woman who said she was responding to a family emergency has pleaded guilty to a speeding offence in court this week.
Thirty-four-year-old, Danielle Evans, of Upper Hill Park, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Monday to make a statutory declaration.
The original offence was alleged to have taken place on the A4075 in Carew on August 4, 2018, when the defendant was caught doing 39 mph in a 30 zone.
Magistrates heard from Ms. Evans who said that her father got in touch with her after he received concerning news about the defendant’s mother who was on life support in hospital.
Ms. Evans said she had to drop her friend off in Sageston who was in the car at the time.
After receiving the news, Ms. Evans said she panicked and sped through Carew village.
The defendant added the police officer was standing behind a car that was parked on double yellow lines and it was here that the officer caught her speeding.
Ms. Evans said she had been driving 15 years and had never been caught speeding.
Magistrates fined the defendant £46 for the ofence, along with a £30 victim surcharge.
She was also given three points on her licence.
