A Tenby man is set to go on trial next month after denying benefit fraud charges.Seventy-one-year-old David Tudor Thomas, of Edward Street, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday to face two charges of dishonestly failing to promptly notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change of circumstances which would affect his entitlement to Pension Credit, namely that his household income increased.
The court heard how two further charges related to Mr. Thomas allegedly failing to let the Department for Work and Pensions know that his wife was now in work, something that would affect his entitlement to Pension Credit.
It is alleged that the offences took place between July 2012 and October 2016, with Mr. Thomas who entered not guilty pleas to all charges, said to have received £11,137.95 in overpayments.
Magistrates stated that they were happy to retain jurisdiction of the case, but Mr. Thomas elected to have his trial heard at Crown Court.
The defendant was granted unconditional bail and told to appear at Swansea Crown Court on September 6 for a further hearing.
