A Templeton teenager was back in court again this month after admitting driving with drugs in his system

Nineteen-year-old Jamie Mark Wright, of Hillside Terrace, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday (March 3), to plead guilty to a charge of driving a Vauxhall Astra with a quantity of cannabis in his system.

Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that police officers carried out a routine stop check on the defendant’s vehicle on the A40 Arnolds Down in Haverfordwest on October 8, and when they spoke to Mr. Wright they could smell cannabis from inside the car.

Mr. Wright’s solicitor told the court that a driving ban would have a significant effect on his client’s employment future, as he was an apprentice mechanic.

Magistrates heard that Mr. Wright appeared in court back in January for a similar offence, which post dated this latest charge.

The defendant was handed a 12 month driving disqualification and fined £250.

Magistrates also ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.
