A Milford man with a catalogue of shoplifting offences to his name has appeared in court again this week.
Forty-seven-year-old Steven George Smith, of St Davids Road, admitted stealing £10 worth of groceries from The Food Warehouse by Iceland in Milford Haven, when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that on June 22, the defendant was spotted taken the items and challenged by a store security officer, but walked out without paying for a number of items, including cheese and chicken joints.
“Mr. Smith has a catalogue of similar offending to his name, most recently five cases of theft in July for which he was handed a community order, although this matter predates those charges,” she explained.
Defence solicitor Mark Layton told the court that Mr. Smith has made full and frank admissions regarding the theft to police when interviewed, and that he was also complying with the terms of the community order he had received last month.
Magistrates fined him £40 for the offence and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
