A Narberth man has been banned from driving for a year after admitting getting behind the wheel of his vehicle whilst unfit to drive through drugs.
Twenty-nine-year-old Joshua McDermott Hamal Gray, of the Old Mart Ground, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, to face three charges of driving his Toyota Enima vehicle on Narberth High Street whilst unfit through drugs.
Mr. Gray was stopped on February 25 by police officers and admitted having 14 micrograms per litre of blood of cocaine in his system, 200 micrograms of BZE (a component of cocaine, and 3.1 micrograms of the drug Delta-9-THC (a component of marijuana).
“Officers on duty had cause to stop Mr. Gray’s vehicle and they could smell cannabis coming from inside. The defendant admitted that he’d smoked cannabis quite recently and a roadside test proved positive and after Mr. Gray’s arrest, specimens of blood were taken, with the results coming back positive.
Defence solicitor Jonathan Webb told the court that a driving ban would affect his client’s work as he was a self-employed forester.
Magistrates disqualified Mr. Gray from driving for 12 months and fined him £320 for the offence.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £32 victim surcharge.
