A Milford man has been hit in the pocket after admitting possessing drugs at a court hearing.

Fifty-five-year-old Terance Christopher Watts, of Coombs Drive, pleaded guilty to possessing 3 grams of cannabis when he appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Sian Vaughan told the court that police officers had attended Mr. Watts’ home on October 23, on an unrelated matter and could smell cannabis on the premises.

“He made full admissions to officers. He has previous convictions for similar matters, the most recently dating back to only last month,” she stated.

Mr. Watts’ solicitor told magistrates that her client suffered with arthritis that gave him problems with his hips and back.

The court heard that Mr. Watts who was currently subject to a community order, also suffered with anxiety and depression.

He was due an appointment with DDAS (the Dyfed Drug and Alcohol Service) next week.

Chief magistrate David Simpson told Mr. Watts that he obviously knew that he’d ‘done wrong’ in using an illegal substance, but wished him well with his meeting with DDAS.

“Hopefully you can get your issues under control,” he said.

Magistrates fined Mr. Watts £80 for the offence, and ordered him to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
