A Llandisilio man who admitted dishonestly received stolen goods, has been handed a community order in court this week.

Forty-three-year-old Kevin Tritton, of Heol-y-Llan, appeared at Haverfordwest Magistrates Court on Tuesday, where he pleaded guilty to dishonestly receiving stolen goods, namely a Mule Kawasaki to the value of £5,000, on August 17, 2017.

Prosecutor Dennis Davies told the court that the 4x4 vehicle in question had been reported stolen back in 20017 from an address in Boncath.

“An investigation was carried out and Somerset police eventually located the vehicle there, discovering that it had been purchased in Welshpool,” he explained.

The court heard how Mr. Tritton had initially purchased the vehicle through online auction site Gumtree.

“Mr. Tritton having thought he’d got a bargain, realised it wasn’t as good a deal as it looked,” explained defence solicitor Mike Kelleher.

“He was not given the correct paperwork when he bought it and should have realised that something was wrong. Havng paid for the machine, he didn’t want to lose all his money and wanted to get some back, so he put it on sale.

Magistrates heard how Mr. Tritton had purchased the vehicle for £1,800 and then sold it on himself for £2,100 in Welshpool.

“It was not a planned criminal matter, he gave his name and address,” added Mr. Kelleher.

Magistrates handed Mr. Tritton a community order made, with a curfew requirement for 4 months with electronic monitoring.

He was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and an £85 victim surcharge.
