Tenby Tennis Club held its first of the summer tournaments last Saturday and were delighted by the success of the event.
Fourteen players with ages ranging from eight to 21 competed in three separate round robin tournaments. The standard of play was fantastic with several people in the watching crown commenting on the noticeable improvement from last year. There were many close contests and as the competition was for an accumulation of points rather than individual wins, the players continues to play their best right to the bitter end.
“It was a really lovely and enjoyable morning,” said Alison Lewis, coach at Tenby Tennis Club and event organiser. “We got away with the weather and the players and spectators all had a great time and the tennis played was fabulous. The atmosphere was so relaxed and friendly whilst still being competitive - a perfect balance! We’re already looking forward to the next tournament in August.”
The results were: Group A - 1. Craig Davies, 2. Jamie Keating, 3. Alex Joseph, 4. Jesse Craig; Group B - Joint 1. Charlie Craig and Joseph Davies, 2. Rhys Swarbrooke, 3. Noah Yeates (playing with his left hand!), 4. Cyrus Prosser; Group C - 1. Ben Holmes, 2. Ellis Jones, 3. Richard Sleight, 4. Harry Malone.
