The first ever U Tri event took place on May 20 in Calella with four athletes from the club taking part in the Barcelona 70.3 Ironman.
A massive well done and congratulations goes to Elaine Brace, Joanna Balkwill, Peter Armytage and Ellie Armytage who successfully completed the course under hot conditions they are not used to in Tenby.
With a great start in the swim surrounded by 2,800 athletes, they then began a three mountain climb on the bike, which felt more like the Tour de France than the flat course that had been mentioned at the briefing before hand!
This was followed by a sun-drenched run that was found tough by all, but with plenty of feed stations the U Tri moral was kept at a high.
The support that they had gathered along the course was greatly appreciated with many athletes noticing Pembrokeshire on the team kit as a beautiful area.
This was something to be proud of as the team continued along the course through the day.
A big thanks goes out to everyone that has supported the team along their journey to complete the Ironman experience, notably - Jake Jenkins, Fin Bowie and all family and friends that gave support through this journey whilst members flew the Welsh flag.
