Hello all! This weekend saw the next two races of the Late season take place on a rather grey and blustery afternoon.

There was a steady F4 breeze blowing whilst the seven boats made it out onto the water for the start of the first race. A course of Monkstone-Pendine-Harbour was set by the OOD and the race began.

Six of the seven boats completed two laps whilst Sam in the Topper completed one lap as the OOD was keen to fit another race in. In this race, Keith in the Laser Radial came first, Maurice in his Contender came second and Dave P in the Solo came third.

Six boats stayed on the water for the second race in these windy conditions.

Five of the boats completed another two laps whilst Sam did another one. This time, Dave G in his Contender came first, Dave P came second and Paul and Julia in the RS200 came third. Thanks as ever to the rescue crew of Steve, Harry and Paul U and to Ed and Sue on OOD duties.

On Saturday evening, an event of different sort was held. A crew from WBRC rowed one of their Celtic Longboats over to the harbour. Several sailors took out their dinghies.

Using the powerboats as a go between, rowers got in the sailing boats and sailors got in the rowing boats (with experienced helms/coxes in all boats, of course). It was a very enjoyable event and great fun was had by all. Some of the rowers even got to use the trapeze on Dave G’s Contender (I was very jealous!).

Once the rowing boat had been rowed back over to Wisemans and all dinghies were safely snuggled up in the dinghy park, everyone went back to the sailing club to have a drink and a natter. Overall, a successful evening was had and definitely an event to repeat in the future!

The next two races of the season are on Sunday at 10am. See you there!
