Narberth continue to impress in the first division this season after getting the better of a high-scoring draw with Llanrhian.
The Lewis Lloyd outfit entertained the division one newcomers, batted first and made the most of the conditions to rack up 235-3 thanks in no small part to Richie Adams's brilliant 109 not out. Since relinquishing the captaincy, the opening bat has been scoring runs for fun this season and Saturday was no exception as he slammed 14 fours in his impressive innings. Mike Scale was also in form, scoring an unbeaten 59, while Jordan Howell, fresh from scoring the winning runs against Lamphey in the Duggie Morris Cup, scored 31.
Llanrhian certainly played their part in the tussle and were not going to lie down against their more experienced opponents and finally ended up on 190-8 after Ben Jones scored 82, while Ian Hughes took 3-40, Matthew Johns 2-25 and Ben Hughes 2-45.
Whitland had a day to forget after they entertained Neyland and lost by nine wickets. Batting first, the home side were shot out for 96 after Nathan Banner tore through the batting line-up, taking 5-19. Only Kevin Pearce with 26 and Paul Davies with 28 showed any resistance against the visitors, who romped to victory thanks to Paul Murray's blistering 42 and Ashley Sutton's 35.
Haverfordwest got the better of a drawn game against Carew. Batting first, the Town scored 180-10 after Danny Potter blitzed 57 and Adam James 35, yet James's 2-34, Clive Tucker's 3-16 and Josh Wilment's 2-43 ensured Carew never got close, finishing on 143-9.
Rhys Davies scored 29 not out alongside figures of 3-43, while Tom Davies scored 32 and took 2-40 and Ian Sefton 25, but apart from them, no other Carew batsmen could get going.
Cresselly were involved in a brilliant game at Llangwm where, after setting the hosts 200 to win, they finished up on 196-9.
Phil Williams and Matthew Morgan's first wicket partnership of 67 set the tone with Williams hitting 10 fours and two 6s in his 74, while Damian Arthur slammed a brisk 33 that included four 6s as they posted 199-9.
Chris Inward, who earlier took 3-32, with all wickets coming in his last over, shared an opening partnership of 99 with William Beresford as he struck a flamboyant 62, with Beresford scoring 42, yet Bobby Webb soon had the home side in trouble taking 5-35, while Simon Cole took 3-44 as the home side finished a few runs short of what would have been a great win.
Lawrenny were beaten at in-form St. Ishmaels after the home side overhauled the visitors' 170-9.
Steve Lewis smashed a brilliant unbeaten 82 in the visitors' innings, which included seven 4s and two 6s, while Ian Jenkins hit 32 and Brad McDermott Jenkins 22 in their competitive score.
However, Peter Bradshaw is in imperious form for the home side and his 50, alongside Andrew Williams's 45 not out and Danny Howells's 41, ensured they won by five wickets.
Whitland seconds were involved in the weekend's most thrilling game as they tied away at Carew.
The Borderers batted first and amassed an impressive 188-8 after Paul Webb struck six 4s in his 65, while Josh Watson scored 23 as did Steve Fraser. Geraint Jones was also in the runs with a cultured 22.
In reply, David Dunfee got to work on the home team batsmen as he raced in to take 4-38, with Webb taking 3-41, as the home side finished on the same score while losing their eighth wicket going for the winning runs when Gerald Hicks was caught by Gethin Benjamin off the last ball from a Geraint Jones delivery.
Stackpole drew at home with Burton after the visitors hung on for a nervous draw, finishing on 137-9 in reply to the home team's 189-8.
Stackpole were indebted to James Adie's 73 for setting such an imposing target, while Richard McKay hit 42 not out and also took 4-23 in the reply, with Chris Gibbs also among the wickets as he took 4-28.
Cresselly seconds lost to Haverfordwest seconds by five wickets as the Town's stiffs passed the home team's 155-9 with ease.
Harry Thomas was in the runs again, scoring 50 for Cresselly, while Neil Williams hit 41 in their total, yet apart from Matthew Lewis, who took 4-37, no-one else was among the wickets as the visitors cruised to a win.
Pembroke made mincemeat of Lamphey after skittling the home side for 65 and passing the total for the loss of no wickets.
Nick Shelmerdine and Peter McGilloway looked solid as an opening pair, with Shelmerdine looking particularly good in his 24, but once Jonathan Rogers bowled him and McGilloway, the writing was on the wall as wickets tumbled like dominoes as Rogers took 4-24, Ceri Brace 3-17 and Sean Powell 2-13.
Brace then wasted no time in reaching the target as he showed his batting credentials with a fluent and classy 40 not out, while opening partner Paul White hit an unbeaten 26 in the one-sided win.
Saundersfoot continued their winning ways with a five-wicket win at Johnston after bowling the home side out for 127 thanks to Simon Wood's 3-17, James Caine's 3-31 and Dai Davies's 3-35.
Phil Jones then hit 31 in the reply and Nick Cope 27, yet Caine was there unbeaten at the end with 18 to his name to secure the win.
Narberth seconds went one better than their firsts as they, too, were in the runs, but forced a win away at Saundersfoot. The Otters batted first and scored 265-5 thanks to Joel Davies's 68, Owen Richards's 52, Daniel Hughes's 43 and Andrew Williams's 32.
The home side were then bundled out for 120 in reply as Sean Croacker took 5-38, despite Sam Franklin's 59 and Paul Morris's 27.
Pembroke Dock lost by 113 runs at home to Hook, who scored 233-7 thanks to Jamie Phelps's 95.
In reply, the home side were shot out for 120, despite Scott Griffiths scoring 34 and Luke Murray 22, as Brennan Martin's 4-23 led the way to victory.
Kilgetty climbed to third spot in division four as they won away at Lawrenny seconds by 46 runs.
Batting first, the visitors scored 184-8 as Johnnie Lewis made a rare appearance for the club to score 35, with Tom Murphy showing his all-round credentials to score the same, while Anthony Bevan chipped in with an excellent 28.
Lewis was on fire with the ball, too, taking 3-26, but Kurtis Marsh was the star of the show as he spun his way to figures of 4-28, while Jack Parkinson took 2-22.
St. Clears won their second game of the season with an eight-wicket success over Cresselly thirds. The home team batted first and scored 121 all out after Nathan Evans took 3-14, yet there were no demons in the wicket for the visitors as Robert Morgan scored 53 not out and James Ingleton 43 to seal an emphatic win.
Carew thirds drew at Hook seconds after finishing on 202-7 in reply to the home team's 222-5.
Aled Davies was the visitors' saviour with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 67, while Kerry Waters with 42 not out was also in the runs.
Narberth thirds had a day to forget at Pembroke Dock after being bundled out for 104 after Johnnie Hay took 4-34 and John Davies 3-26. Emyr Jenkins with 25 and Dan Hughes jnr. with an unbeaten 37 were the only batsmen to get to grips with the visitors' bowling, who in reply, romped to an eight-wicket win thanks to Andrew Wood's unbeaten 45 and Hay's 32.
Hundleton's march towards the division five title shows no signs of slowing down after they won by five wickets at home to Stackpole.
Ben Adams took 5-18 and Philip Rice 4-26 as Stackpole were bowled out for 95, despite Jake Seaton's 34, with Adams hitting 22, John Tysoe 22 and Rice 19 in the home team's winning pursuit.
There was no game for Kilgetty seconds in division six while Whitland thirds lost to Llechryd seconds by four wickets after being bowled out for 117, with Justin Watson the only batsman to make a score of note after his 24 set the tone. Barry Rees then took 3-36 in reply, but the visitors had no problems in making the runs.
In the division's other game, Lamphey seconds lost by eight wickets to Hundleton seconds after the home side were bowled out for 56. Riaan Strydom took 5-6 for the visitors to help dismiss the home side, while Stuart Midgely with 20 not out and Steve John with 16 not out ensured an easy win.
