December brings with it not only inclement weather, but also the Trefloyne Seniors’ AGM. Normally on this day, we play for the Derek Jones trophy, but as in the previous two years, the weather has had the final say and the trophy will be played for on the next available Thursday.

However, this did not put a stop to the AGM itself, and the great and the not so good of the seniors section convened at 3 pm for dinner and speeches. After a fine dinner and a drink or two, outgoing captain John Drury recapped on the past year, which was successful in terms of wins against opposing teams, and the upward progress of the Trefloyne Seniors Open which saw an increase in numbers entered this year.

John then thanked Tom, Sian and the Trefloyne staff for the meals provided this year. He also thanked the greens staff for the superb condition of the course, before handing over to treasurer Pat Casement to give the financial situation.

We then went on to the trophy presentations, which were as follows:

Seniors only competitions: Richard Davis three-club and putter comp - Graham Harrison; Seniors Challenge Cup - Dennis Holloway; Alan Chapman Trophy - John Richards;

Derek Jones Trophy - John Drury; John Perrott Singles Trophy - Barry Wood; Darrell Jones Pairs - John Voysey and Brinley Hughes.

Club competitions: All Winners Shield - Dennis Holloway; Ian Lawrence Shield - Pat Casement; Laidler Trophy - John Drury; Steve Derrick Trophy - Jack Zeraschi.

Following the presentations, John then handed over to incoming captain John Voysey, who gave his view of the next year, which was more of the same, but better, the forming of a committee to take the burden off the captain and the search for a vice-captain. We wish you well on that John.
