Tenby Golf Club’s Mixed Team played the first round of the Ping Mixed Foursomes Championship at Ashburnham against Glynhir Golf Club. When we realised the date (Friday the 13th!), some of us were a bit nervous, but it proved to be a lucky day for Tenby.

The first pair out were Anna and Keith Hubbard, giving Glynhir one shot. They won 4 and 3 on the 15th hole.

Tenby’s Ping captain, Heather Morgan, partnered Roger Schooling in the second match. They had to give three shots and won on the 17th, 2 and 1.

Finally, Linda Tordoff Evans and Brian Jones, giving five shots to their opponents, won 3 and 1 on the 17th.

The matches were all well fought and played in good humour. Everyone came in feeling they had made some new friends.

Tenby captain thanked Ashburnham for giving courtesy of the course, and Glynhir for a wonderful afternoon. Glynhir vice-captain Judy thanked Tenby and wished them good fortune in the next rounds.

Thanks also to Laura McQueen for being Tenby’s supporter on the day.
