SINGER, composer and script writer, Caryl Parry Jones, will be the special guest speaker at Carmarthenshire’s free 50+ Forum annual event.

The top entertainer will visit the National Botanic Garden in Llanarthne on Friday, September 15 from 10 am to 4 pm.

Caryl appears regularly in gigs where she performs her own material as well as arrangements of more familiar songs, and mixes the music with her own brand of comedy.

Other speakers at the 50+ Forum Feel Good Festival include Gareth Jordan, cyber crime specialist from Dyfed Powys Police, the county council’s executive board members for health and social care Cllr Jane Tremlett, and housing Cllr Linda Evans, and 50+ Forum chair Caroline Streek.

Stalls from over 40 organisations will offer a wide range of taster sessions including arts and crafts, men’s sheds, therapy horses, a ‘timeless’ photo booth, language lessons and reflexology. There will also be guided walking tours to learn about botany, health and exercise.

Admission is free for 50+ forum members upon presentation of a membership card.

The council’s 50+ champion, Cllr Jane Tremlett said: “The 50+ annual event provides a great opportunity for older people in Carmarthenshire to see what is available and to try out some of the fun activities.”

People aged 50+ can join the forum for free on the day or call 01267 224692. Alternatively, visit www.carmarthenshire50.org.uk

Forum chair, Caroline Streek said: “We are delighted to have secured Caryl Parry Jones as one of our speakers and thrilled to see how the event has grown and become an excellent occasion to celebrate the creativity and contribution of older people.”
