As part of the National Garden Scheme, Lamphey?Walled Garden is open for visitors this weekend.
Built in the late 1700s, Lamphey Walled Garden (postcode SA71 5PD) nestles in the Ridgeway amongst the beautiful landscape of Lamphey with distant views to Swan lake bay.
It’s a plantsman’s garden with a romantic atmosphere: drifts of lavender, cosmos, anemones. Lamphey Walled Garden is full of colour with 40 types of stunning salvia jostling for space, buzzing with bumblebees. The planting is relaxed with nature’s needs met; large areas of self sown fennel, love in the mist and hollyhocks with wilder areas left for the grasshoppers, voles and a myriad of insects.
There is wheelchair access, dogs are welcome and there will be plants for sale. The garden will be open on Saturday and Sunday (September 4 and 5) from 10 am to 4 pm.
The £4 entrance fee goes to nursing and wildlife charities; no booking is necessary and there is no admission charge for children. Cream teas, homemade cakes and drinks are served on the front lawn with plenty of parking and toilet facilities provided for a lovely day’s visit.
