We might not be able to change the world, but a cup of tea and piece of cake could make a huge difference to someone's life, according to Jonathon Beharral and Sophie Merrix.
Jonathon and Sophie will be hosting The Big Cuppa at Pembroke Town Hall on Wednesday afternoon, August 29.
Jonathon will be focusing on the needs of the persecuted church (it is reckoned that one Christian dies for his or faith every five minutes), whereas Sophie will be showing people how they can support the work of Tearfund (she has just left her managerial post to work with women and children living on the streets of Bolivia for two months).
"I am delighted with their passion for the poor and persecuted," said Rob James, Pastor of Westgate Evangelical Chapel.
"In raising concern for the marginalised and the mistreated, they are reflecting the concerns of Jesus, and doing what they can to make this world a better place to live in. I hope they will receive the support they deserve - because they are not the ones who will benefit; other will.
"I know Sophie has already paid tribute to the marvellous support she has received so far and I hope this is but a foretaste of what's to come. And after all, it's a pretty good excuse to eat a piece of cake."
