We had a well supported mini competition on September 13, with ‘Monochrome’ the theme.

Members had 49 images to look at and score, with the results, as follows: In top place was ‘Loving Life’ by Al Rees (an action dog shot), second - ‘Gateshead at Night’ (a landscape of the water andbridges in Gateshead by Neil Thomas), third - ‘Mud Runner’ by Anthony Thomas (a great capture of a lad in mud and water), fourth - ‘Poppy’ by Cheryl Hewitt, fifth - ‘Last One Standing’ by Janet Sullivan, sixth - ‘Hot Rod’ by Neil Thomas, and seventh ‘Small Tortoiseshell’ by Sara Anderson.

Many thanks to everyone who entered, but particularly to Harry Gardiner, our own club member and judge, who chose a selection of the images to critique.

His comments are always useful to experienced and budding photographers alike.

Lots of tips on technique, composition and processing and giving the authors a chance to discuss their work.

Come along as a guest to see for yourselves.

We meet 7.30 on Thursday nights in St Florence Hall. Details of our club’s activities can be found on our website.
