A street by street survey to look at public seating and furniture allocation throughout Tenby is due to be carried out.

Speaking at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council, the Mayor, Clr. Laurence Blackhall, said that he had been liaising with Tenby Civic Society on the matter and this week had drawn up a template of areas in the town to look at where some street furniture provision and benches could be refurbished and perhaps moved around.

“I’d be grateful if any councillor would be able to volunteer to help with the survey and take a street each,” he said.

Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas said that she would still like to pursue a suggestion to site a bench outside the doctor’s surgery.

The town clerk, Andrew Davies, commented: “It seems to be the view of the people who run the surgery, that people don’t need a bench there, as there should not be any queuing, but there’s no harm in trying.”

Clr. Mrs. Thomas asked if the town council could write to the surgery and suggest that, if there was a free bench available, would they be willing to find a space for it.
