Tesco Pembroke Dock welcomed a visit from MP Simon Hart and representatives from four local schools on Friday.

The reason was to celebrate the success of Tesco for Schools and Clubs promotion which has seen Pembroke Dock Community School, St. Mary's School, Monkton Priory School and Cosheston School receive fantastic new equipment.

The nationwide scheme, this year celebrating its 21st anniversary, enables UK schools and clubs to redeem vouchers from Tesco purchases for all sorts of amazing products, from iMacs to drum kits and garden tools to tennis rackets.

Over 40,000 schools and clubs in the UK have signed up to take part in the programme and last year alone, Tesco gave away over 450,000 pieces of equipment to schools and clubs, worth a staggering £9.2 million.

This year, shoppers in the local area received vouchers over 10 weeks which they donated to a school or club of their choice. These schools and clubs were then able to choose what equipment they wanted from the catalogue to benefit and educate children.

Clare Fernquest, store manager at Pembroke Dock Tesco, said: "Tesco for Schools and Clubs is a scheme which my team are proud to be part of. Thousands of customers have been collecting vouchers to help their local schools and clubs get new equipment showing what can happen when a whole community gets involved.

Alison Ingle, personnel manager, and Sue Davies, services manager, are seen with Simon Hart and pupils and staff representing Pembroke Dock Community School, St. Mary's School, Monkton School and Cosheston School.
