Sporting team mates of a local man who was involved in a serious road traffic collision over the Bank Holiday weekend have set up a fundraising page to help him and his family through the recovery period.

Thirty-year-old Lewis Desforges a footballer with St Florence FC and keen runner was involved in an RTC on Saturday night (May 23) which saw his vehicle leave a carriageway on the A4139 and collide with a tree.

Emergency services were quick on the scene and Lewis was conveyed to the Heath Hospital in Cardiff after sustaining a series of serious injuries police have stated.

As a keen runner St. Florence football team have decided to run 100k to complete a challenge that Lewis was half way through himself and have set up a JustGiving fundraising page.

“It is a tough time as it is for Lewis and his family, so any donations will go directly to his family to support them during this time.”

The 100km running target was met in one day and fundraisers have agreed to carry on after the initial target of raising £1,000 was also surpassed. Anyone else from outside the football club has also been urged to get involved.

A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “At approximately 22:58hrs on Saturday (May 23) a serious injury road traffic collision occurred on the A4139 Penally, near Tenby, whereby a white Kia Rio left the carriageway and collided with a tree.

“The sole male occupant of the vehicle sustained serious injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses who were travelling along this road around this time who may be able assist with their investigation.”
