Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) have been very impressed with people’s engagement with the Saundersfoot Community Treasure Chest at the recent consultation events in the area.
“There are some great ideas out there and a passion to develop and support the Saundersfoot community,” said Nia George, Community Volunteering Development Officer with PAVS.
“This is a one-off opportunity to apply for anything from £100 to £1000 for your group. Just think what a difference this could make.
“The beauty of Participatory budgeting is that the decisions regarding funding are made by you the Saundersfoot community.”
Decision day will be on January 29 at the Regency Hall when all successful applicants will be invited to pitch their projects to their community and share how they would like to spend any potential funding.
If you are involved with any community group or can identify a gap in provisions in Saundersfoot that fit within the following themes, then please email: [email protected] for a copy of the form.
There is no real reasons for any group not to apply. Consider the following themes when putting your bid together:
• Bring people together/ social interactions - Projects that support and strengthen the community allowing people to socialise and interact together.
• Young people and children – Youth Clubs, Dance clubs, football clubs nursery groups, After-school clubs etc.
• Multigenerational activities – Activities that result in bringing different groups of people together eg IT sessions where young people help older people access online activities or contact friends and family or projects where older people share skills and learning with younger Saundersfoot residents.
• Vulnerability e.g. a group combatting loneliness, senior citizens or dinner clubs. Activities/groups that cater to members of our community with additional needs, crafting, knit and natter groups etc.
• Community social events as part of Covid recovery – events and activities targeted at bringing the community together in covid recovery eg community theatre, social activities, beach cleans, gardening etc
“We’d love to see applications from sports groups, nature groups, conservationgroups, new groups, long established groups, young people and more mature groups,” continued Nia.
“We know Saundersfoot is great but this is your opportunity to make a bigger difference and bring your community together,
“As long as the applications meet any of the above themes, then the limits are endless.
If you have an idea for a project work with a group who would benefit from a project or need an application, please contact the Saundersfoot Community Chest Facebook page or on the above email address.
The deadline December 31 and there are hard copies of the forms available from the village’s police station and in the Regency Hall.
