Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild's fifth annual quiz prize presentation was held in the control room of Pembroke Power Station on Thursday last, by kind permission of their business manager, Mair Lewis (writes D.B). Always a fascinating and welcoming visit to Mair for our ladies and annual quiz winners.

This year's RNLI European Towns Quiz winners were Irena Kruszona, of Pembroke, and Lynn Hart, of Haverfordwest. Lynn was unable to attend. Our gratitude to Irena and Lynn for their support. Our thanks also for some lovely letters from our supporters.

My thanks to Cynthia also members Tamzin and Jennie for the marking and design of the quiz sheet. Not forgetting Pembroke Guild members for selling locally.

The quiz author, Guild member Cynthia Field, initially insisted on sponsoring this, her own, fund-raising idea, enabling the entire £1 spent on a quiz, to go to the RNLI.

The interest locally and nationally has been huge. In five years, almost £5,000 has been sent to the RNLI. £5,000 would buy 15 Tamar Lifeboat crew member lifejackets, which cost £350 each, quite something.

So inspired initially 'as purchasers of our quiz', Pembroke Power Station's business manager and her team subsequently agreed to sponsor the quiz. The 2015 quiz to be released on May 30 next will also be very kindly sponsored by Pembroke Power Station. We shall have to keep you in suspense regarding the subject!
