A retail premises in Tenby has had a licence variation application turned down by local councillors, after the owners wanted to hold ‘gin evenings’ at the shop.
At Tuesday night’s meeting of the Tenby Town Council, members considered a ‘variation of licence’ for The Cranny, which is located in High Street, to enable them to add on sales to allow them to hold periodic gin evenings.
In recommending its response to Pembrokeshire County Council’s licensing department, the town council stated: “While understanding the reason for the application, members feel that the granting of what will be a full licence to a retail premises within the cumulative impact area of Tenby could set a worrying precedent for the future.
“Members feel that such a licence would give scope for the development of another bar/public house within the commercial/residential core of the town and could therefore have an adverse impact on the four licensing objectives.”
