Friday night was quiz night at Monkton Priory Church Hall, an event organised by Pembroke and Monkton Local History Society.

Congratulations to the winning team, Peter and Gaynor Thomas and Bob and Amanda Schopp, who won against stiff opposition as 12 tables entered with a total of 42 participants.

The society's quiz nights are always popular, thanks in no small part to the very splendid buffets!

The quizzes are above all fun and enjoyable social occasions - all are welcome and anyone turning up on their own will be matched up with a team.

Quiz nights are held on a regular basis every other month and entry is £4, which includes food and teas etc., anyone wishing to down their meal with a glass of wine is free to bring their own bottle.

On this occasion, £203 was raised for society funds. The Pembroke and Monkton Local History Society is not a funded organisation and raising their own funds enables them to offer a programme of talks and events free at entry. They also help support other organisations, including Pembroke Museum at Pembroke Town Hall.

Their next quiz will be on Friday, May 23, at Monkton Church Hall, 7.30 pm. Next event will be a Local History Coffee Morning at Monkton Church Hall on Saturday, April 5, from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, which will be accompanied by a slide show of old photographs entitled 'A Journey around Pembrokeshire in Old Picture Postcards' and an exhibition.

Should anyone wish to join the society to help support their work, membership is only £3 per annum, but all are welcome to join in the events.
