Pupils from Class 4 of Golden Grove School-Ysgol Gelli Aur in Pembroke recently visited Carew Castle to learn about its past history and lifestyle of the people living there 500 years ago.
The visit was facilitated by staff from the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority who are responsible for the castle.
The pupils were put in to four groups, each of which enacted a part of the history of the castle and Henry VII, from Henry's birth in Pembroke to his fleeing to France and his later return when he landed near Dale before making his way to Bosworth, where he defeated Richard III with the help of Rhys Ap Thomas, whose home was Carew Castle.
The play was later enacted in full and culminated in an interpretation of the celebrations some years later with jousting and general merriment.
Following a picnic lunch, the pupils visited the French Mill where they learned about its workings.
The school would like to thank the staff of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park for providing an enjoyable and interesting experience for the pupils.
