Plans to pilot a new coffee and snack bar at Tenby Tourist Information Centre have been submitted to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority.

The plans have been submitted by Pembrokeshire County Council, which runs Tenby TIC.

The intention is to provide light refreshments for visitors exploring the town, including hot and cold beverages, sandwiches and a selection of cakes.

If the plans are approved, the snack bar will be launched at the end of May, ready for the summer holiday season. Refreshments would be served daily between 10 am and 4 pm.

The development follows a recommendation from the Council’s Cabinet in March, which stated that the centre might have to close after the summer unless a permanent solution can be found to improve revenue and cut costs.

The Cabinet’s recommendation followed a request from Tenby Town Council for more time to consider how they could support the TIC.

In order for preparatory work to be carried out to install facilities on site, the TIC?has been temporarily closed this week, and will re-open tomorrow (Saturday) and will commence with temporary opening hours of 10 am to 1 pm and 1.45 to 4 pm (Monday to Saturday).

“We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused as a result of changes taking place and thank them for their continued support for this facility,” said a spokesperson for PCC.
