Local councillors have requested an update on the Brynhir site in Tenby, following news that a ‘notice of motion’ regarding the land is to be put to a meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council next week.
The site, situated off Narberth Road, has been earmarked for a housing scheme, with PCC stating that they have been in discussions with ‘interested parties’ for some time, but councillors in Tenby have long complained about being provided with a ‘lack of information’ by the authority on the proposed sale of the land.
A ‘notice of motion’ from Clr. Mike Evans is now set to go before a meeting on Thursday, asking that the authority withdraw from open sale of the land owned at Brynhir, so that a social housing scheme to meet the needs of local residents, including social rented, low cost ownership and innovative self-build opportunities can be brought forward in cohesion with Pembrokeshire Councils Habitats Regulations Appraisal (HRA).
Clr. Evans, who states that such a move would also enable the authority to maximise any capital revenue receipt, will also put the question to the council as to what financial offers have been received to date for the land, including details of any conditions attached by prospective developers in relation to the offers made.
On learning of the proposed ‘notice of motion’, councillors at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby Town Council suggested that it would be beneficial to schedule a regular report from Clr. Evans on to their agenda, to keep them in the loop on issues from County Hall.
“I think it would prove to be a positive dialogue,” commented Clr. Blackhall.
