Guest speaker at the June meeting of Pembroke Ladies Probus was Mervyn Jones, former governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Mervyn spoke of his 'life in exotic places.' Mervyn's journey began with his education in Swansea. His career path in the diplomatic service took him to many places, including India, Europe and Asia, with his final posting being as governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands. A fascinating working life and journey, encountering situations requiring a great deal of wisdom and particularly a good sense of humour! Pam King thanked Mervyn on behalf of the ladies present, for both an interesting and enjoyable talk. Pembroke Ladies Probus members will next meet at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, Pembroke Dock, on August 20, at 11 for 11.30 am, for a members' informal summer 'natter and a noggin'.
