One of the street parties held on Saturday in Pembroke Dock in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee took place in Front Street. There was live music and entertainment, street food, ice-cream, various stalls including the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Lions Club, face painting and fancy dress. If you were there you will have spotted some Star Wars characters, and even perhaps Queen Elizabeth herself.

The Shipwright Inn and The Town Team later issued a massive ‘thank you’ to all who helped and supported Friday’s street party on Front Street in Pembroke Dock. They included an army of volunteers from the West Wales Maritime Museum, Johnny Oak, and Pete Kingdom for erecting the big marquee, plus Sarah Scourfield (Town Clerk) and Cllr. Joshua Beynon for helping to save and dismantle the marquee.

In a post to Project Pembroke Dock’s Facebook group, Rhian Cowen said:

“Thank you to Pennar Hall, Pembroke Dock for lending us the posh chairs, Lionel Nutting was very grateful for them and was outstanding support from 9am until the rain came pouring down. Thank you to the VC gallery volunteers Suzannah and Rebecca we realise the weather affected the schedule quite a bit but it was amazing that you both were there on hand. Thank you to all the stall holders, St Johns Church, RNLI Volunteers, Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Lions.”

Also included in the vote of thanks were Bettys Confectionery Hire, Emburs Dessert Bar, Kayleigh Kingdom from K&MCraftz, and Sandra Wales Williams from The Coreside Nursery for her beautiful blooms.

“You were all amazing in braving the morning weather,” continued Rhian.

“So sorry Kim Lowe couldn’t stay with her gorgeous creations but completely understand.

“A huge thanks to Pembs Super Melts who stepped in with glitter tattoos when our face painter couldn’t make it.

“Thank you to the stall holders for raffle prizes donated. We didn’t get time to draw a raffle but we will hold a Town Team fundraiser soon and they will be raffled/auctioned then.

“Thank you to all the fabulous entertainers, Chris Didcote, Kristofer Sanders and Elvis for opening our event.

“Thank you to all you amazing dancers from the Kelly williams school of dance your hard work and dedication was evident in your electrifying performance.

“Thank you to the people that gave me Prosecco 😘 and to Angelina Rees for looking after various things of mine throughout the day and thank you to Mark Carter and Peter Kraus for helping me to load the gazebos, clear the litter and take down the bunting in the pouring rain. Thank you to the short man that was willing to give me a bunk up to get the bunting down in the rain!

“A big thank you to Pembroke Dock Community School for the beautiful bunting made by your pupils. With all the excitement of the weather and the marquee we didn’t get a chance to judge it but be assured that we will and prizes will be given.

“Thank you all you lovely lot from The Dock for coming together to make the day a fabulous success despite the elements being against us! It is all of you that makes me love this town so much.

“Finally, and most importantly the main purpose of the day, which was to give the Veterans of our community a Free lunch sponsored by Simply Landscaping. Thank you all for your service to our country and for joining us yesterday on this most special of Jubilees.”
