There was a real buzz on Saturday in the Dockyard Chapel, despite the short notice of the event to which anyone with an interest in Pembroke Dock was invited.
On show was the launch of a specially created video showing how the dockyard looked in 1860, and people turned out in great numbers.
As well as the video, there was an exhibition entitled 'Pembroke Dock Uncovered', highlighting aspects of the history of the town that the project team had found while doing its research.
The project was the result of a Heritage Lottery funded collaboration with De Montfort University Digital Building Group and is a part of the Bicentenary Group projects for 2014 celebrations.
Visitors were able to see how the project had been developed, to talk to the university partner and to get involved with future projects.
It was an occasion which brought together old and young and many an old acquaintance was renewed, with a wealth of memories and reminiscences revived over a delicious authentic Victorian afternoon tea.
The cakes, from old-time recipes in Jenny Kenna's 'Susan's Secrets' cook book, were baked and served on period chinaware by the wonderful Pembroke Ladies Lifeboat Guild.
"The absolute star of the show was the building itself, the beautiful, restored Georgian Dockyard Chapel and grounds built by the Admiralty in 1832, shown off in the lovely sunlight which also shone for us on the day," said Sian Dureau.
"It perfectly embodies the architectural elegance of a dockyard building at its peak and for many this event was the first occasion to enjoy it.
"From February, the video will be displayed in various locations locally and it will be shown in Pembroke Dock Library throughout the month of June with the 'Pembroke Dock Uncovered' exhibition.
"The response was so enthusiastic and positive that plans by the team to apply for more funding and to make this project just a start have been resoundingly replied to with a ' yes' and a second event in the near future is already in the making.
"The team would like to give a heartfelt 'thank you' to everybody who came and were so supportive," she added.
