Pembroke Dock based Modern Print & Design have supported children in Tanzania, by paying to build a rainwater harvesting scheme.
The money they sent to the Nungwi village on the island of Zanzibar, has paid for concrete-lined water storage tanks to be dug below ground. The tanks now collect rain water as it runs off the village school roof. This means, for the first time, the children will have clean water to drink in school and be able to wash their hands after going to the toilet.
Modern Print & Design's Trevor Collins said: "It is amazing what a small business like ours can do with a little money, to improve the lives of people. We have already paid for the planting of guava and mahogany trees in the village to improve its deforested environment. Indeed, we have committed to planting a tree for every new printing customer."
Special thanks goes to everyone at Pembroke Dock's Sazani Associates for overseeing the project. Sazani channel Modern Print's money into the Labayka Development Fund (LDF). This is a local community group committed to the substantiable socia-economic development of Nungwi village. The LDF also supports education and better healthcare for the village. It is entirely run by the local community.
