Every Friday afternoon, a group of bowlers from Pembroke Dock Bowling Club take part in an informal competition called the ‘Mixed Triples’. Each participant pays an entry fee which is shared amongst the winning teams.
A few weeks ago, Mr. Les Edrop (a regular contestant) suggested that, for four successive Fridays, the group should, instead of sharing the ‘kitty’ amongst the winning teams, donate the proceeds to a charity.
‘Elly’s Ward 10 Flag Appeal’ was chosen as the most appropriate charity. Oh...and that the bowlers should wear ‘something pink’!
Elly Neville, the nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyn Neville, is the delightful figure-head of the charity and she agreed to sacrifice a couple of hours of her valuable school holiday to meet with the Mixed Triples bowlers and receive their donation, which will be added to the substantial sum that has already been raised by Elly in support of Ward 10 at Withybush hospital
