Last week the Club held its 5th year birthday party at the Village Hall.  Despite several members being absent due to the Easter holiday break, eight full tables of very happy bridge players took to their seats to enjoy a wonderful afternoon.

The party started off with each table being given a 1942 birthday quiz, with six rounds of some easy and some not-so-easy questions; overall winners were ‘Non’s Champions,’ including Non Jenkin, Sarah Miles, Tony Cookson & John Thomas Ferrand.    2nd place were ’The Four Tops,’ who were Pam Evans, Irene Warlow, Tony & Kath Brown.  The last of the teams to win a round of prizes were ’The Mavericks,’ namely John Bowen, John Seal, Geraldine Alderman & Jean Charnock.

There were several winners of the raffle, with several ‘Bridge’ books kindly donated by club member Mike Baker.  Top three winners were: 1st prize to Irene Warlow; 2nd Pam Richards;  3rd  Julie Milewski.  Congratulations to all the raffle winners on the day.

Before play began, the club were served with a fabulous Afternoon buffet prepared by Cynthia at Lamphey Hall Hotel.  The tea was truly splendid with all members hugely satisfied, thank you so much to Cynthia and her team!

With eight full tables in play, club director Kevin Thomas chose a Howell movement and the results were all combined with prizes being presented to 1st place Julie Milewski & Ian Haston 65.48, along with 5th place winners Joy Whitelock & John Gardener 57.14.

Full results were: Top North/South Kevin Thomas & Brenda Harris 63.10;  2nd  Peter Milewski & Graham Hadlow 61.51;  3rd  Joy Whitelock & John Gardener 57.14.
