Local novelist, Michael Christopher Carter, is enjoying international success with his paranormal thrillers on Amazon. His series of tongue-in-cheek hamster horror stories are the latest to reach the Amazon’s bestseller lists, taking the top three spots all at once in the Horror Short Stories chart!

The series, comprising the parody-titled novellas -Frankenstein’s Hamster, Hamster House of Horror and Hamsters: Night of Terror is set in Pembroke Dock and tells the improbable tale of a hamster who meets its untimely demise only to be resurrected by a teen genius (who soon learns that messing with nature is a bad idea!)

Many of Michael’s other books are set locally too, in Narberth, Tenby, Llangolman, Fishguard, and the Preseli Hills to name but a few.

Michael lives in Pembroke within view of the wonderful castle, and when he isn’t writing, he’s a full time carer for several disabled members of his family.

When asked what inspires his stories, he said: “Living in such wonderful scenery is a dream come true for me.

“I am so often inspired whilst out walking my dogs and can’t wait for the next time I can sit down to write—frequently in the middle of the night between caring responsibilities.”

On asked if he found it difficult to juggle his different roles and he had this to say: “Yes, sometimes. Often I am exhausted, but I can’t not write. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. I enjoy sharing my passion for the area with the world.

“Readers tell me how much they appreciate the landscapes portrayed in my stories and how they plan to visit. I love that my books are promoting Pembrokeshire.”

If you want to join Michael’s success and read his paranormal thrillers for yourself, you can find them at Tenby Bookshop, and of course on Amazon’s bestseller lists.
