The questions for the second week of the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock LVA Quiz League, set by the Station B, were not easy and a couple of printing errors for which the question setter sincerely apologises did not help.

Results showed that four of the matches were close run affairs, separated by four or less points. The First & Last continued their flying start to the season travelling to the Alma to play the B side and coming away with a fine win, but the Charlton B on their travels to the St. Govan's B, the night's highest scorers, took another heavy defeat. Meanwhile at the Charlton, the A side won by only four points as did the Oak at home to the Alma A, whilst the newcomers at the golf club went down to the St. Govan's A by just two points.

Match of the night, week, year was at the Station where the A team hosted the visiting Cosh Brewery team, and with the first two rounds closely fought, the home side led by two points going into round three. Then the visitors exploded and by the end of round five, last year's champions had fallen 20 points behind and from their demeanour one could only see defeat looming, last week's recovery in the last round a distant memory.

First question to Cosh, conferred as were all their questions in the round, no points scored, and to compound matter, captain Mike went for six points on question two and failed, but no pass over points. Question three Cosh answered wrong and Station took three points for the pass over, Q4 Alan stars with Chicago, six points, Q5 Cosh fail again and no pass over, Q6 Sion answers The Singing Detective, six points, Q7 once more neither side have an answer, the visitors lead is now down to five points. Silence has fallen in the background, you can hear a pin drop, question eight the subject Games (a groan is let out) it's down to Big Dave, How many tiles in a domino set? Back comes the answer immediately 28, stunned silence, correct six points. Final scores are checked and Cosh's captain Roger says 69-68 to you. Nobody can believe the result and the visitors are magnanimous in defeat and congratulate the home side. Has there every been a greater turnaround (escape) in the quiz league before?
