The results of the rounds in the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock LVA Quiz League never cease to amaze me, with this week's quiz set by St. Govan's Inn A team bringing about another twist at the top of the table.

The surprise of the round came at the Cosheston Brewery Inn, with the home side, who had been closing in on the league leaders, faltering and conceding a tight match to the visiting Alma A, who themselves have an outside trophy chance.

Conversely, the two Station teams, who were showing signs of falling by the wayside, both won.

The league leaders, Station B, went to the Alma and came away with a good win at the expense of their B side with the night's top score to open up a three-point gap at the top.

The Station A entertained the Naval Club and, with defeats in their last three games, were looking to get back on track.

However, after four rounds, they trailed their visitors and looked like slipping up again, but round five saw a change of fortunes and it was the Naval Club who derailed and, though they claimed a six on the last question, they were left in the sidings and the Station A moved back to second place.

For consistency, look no further than the First and Last, who travelled to the Oak in Pembroke and continued their good form with another win to remain fourth with just five points separating the top four teams.

The derby at the Charlton produced another shock result, with the struggling B team pulling off the win in another close game.

In the remaining match of the round, the Golf Club went out of town to St. Govan's Inn and came away with a solid win over the home B team.

The night's results were: Alma B 44, Station B 76; Station A 64, Naval Club 55; Charlton A 58, Charlton B 64; Cosh Brewery 63, Alma A 69; St Govan's Inn B 51, Golf Club 75; and the First and Last won at the Oak.
