The Pembrokeshire Scouts' annual St. George's Day parade and service were held this year in Pembroke Dock on Sunday. The parade, of about 300 adults and children, led by the Haverfordwest Air Cadet Band, marched from the Pembroke Dock Community School to the Zion Chapel in Meyrick Street. The groups came from Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Lamphey, Kilgetty, Narberth, Milford Haven, Johnston, Neyland, Haverfordwest, Roch and Goodwick. The service was conducted by Rev. Hugh Michael, with accompaniment from Mrs. Angela Michael, on the organ. Guests included the Mayors of Pembroke, Pembroke Dock, Neyland and Milford Haven. Pembroke Dock was chosen for the service and parade this year because of Pembroke Dock's bicentenary and the local groups gave a short history of their groups, which proved to be very interesting. All members of Scouts attending from Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Adults renewed their Scout Promise and the County Commissioner Mrs. Sue Benbow presented awards to leaders for their service to Scouting. Thanks to James Parfitt for printing the order of service sheets free of charge; the police for all their help keeping our route clear and keeping our young people safe; to the Rev. Hugh Michael and members of the Zion Chapel for all their help and assistance; to leaders and members of the Scout Active Support for all their help on the day and beforehand; and to the young people and their parents for being there on the day.
